Round Algarve cycle races

August

9/8-15/8
Go back in time and visit the medieval fair held in the old town of Silves. Change your clothes and even change your money, become part of the middle ages and soak up the atmosphere.

Also in August is Fatacil, very large country fair held in Lagoa the last 10 days of the month. With animals of all breeds and equestrian competitions, plus local handicraft and much much more. Eat at one of the many restaurants that have been set up and sample some of Portugal's finest food, while watching and listening to live entertainment.

Procession from the small chapel on top of the hill, down through the town, also live entertainment in the square.

September

This is the month for the grape harvest, when the majority of the grapes are taken to the local Cooperativa to be turned into fine Lagoa wines (tours can be arranged). Tours can also be arranged to visit the vineyards owned by Sir Cliff Richard and sample some of the wines produced in his own winery.

This sees the start of the annual gypsy fairs, the first of which is held in the old town of Silves, then moves on to Portimáo.
